Basket weaving for peace, Rwanda

Today, perpetrators and victims of the Rwanda genocide live side by side in Mayange resettlement village, focusing on reconciliation and improvement of their living conditions, and refusing to let the past stand in the way of a better tomorrow. The basket weaving cooperative Imasirire (sunrise, in the local language), was set up by the Millennium Villages Project (MVP) in 2007. Here, the ethnic background doesn't matter. All that does is weaving baskets with all the colors of the rainbow and selling them at a profit.
